ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Monday two visitors were injured by falling ice at Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon—one visitor was airlifted to a nearby trauma center while officials urged caution as ice remains in the area. FOX 13
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ 23andMe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sunday and planned a 45-day auction to sell its assets—raising privacy concerns for the genetic data of 15 million users. State officials including Utah’s Attorney General urged customers to delete their data as the company vowed to protect it despite its financial troubles. Deseret News
- ➤ Last week, Utah-based solar energy company Torus passed Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart Battery Program tests, earning certification as one of only two approved commercial battery providers. The certification lets commercial customers use its energy storage system—designed for power quality, rapid backup, and automated dispatching—to support Utah’s plans for expanding power production. - ➤ Police canceled an Amber Alert after finding two children safe on Monday evening and arresting their father near Springville after he allegedly took them following a mobile home fire that killed their mother in Riverdale. Deseret News
- ➤ Ricardo Trujillo Rojel, 29, was arrested Monday evening in Riverdale on suspicion of murder and arson after a fatal fire at a trailer near 5100 S. 1050 West triggered an Amber Alert—he resisted arrest near Hobble Creek while his two young children remained unharmed. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The family of former congresswoman Mia Love announced funeral plans after she died Sunday, March 23, following a battle with brain cancer. Her body will lie in state at the Utah State Capitol Rotunda (April 6, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and a public memorial is set (April 7, 10 a.m.) on the University of Utah campus, with donations requested in lieu of flowers.
