- ➤ A March poll found that 67% of Utahns are confident in local colleges compared with 53% who trust national institutions. Education leaders say affordable tuition & community ties boost trust and they plan to improve programs to better meet market needs. Deseret News
- ➤ State lawmakers passed bills that change school tech rules by banning phones during class, setting up a parent-approved website list for Chromebooks, and adding Wi-Fi to rural school buses; Gov. Cox is expected to sign the measures soon. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The World Anti-Doping Agency proposed adding a clause to Utah’s 2034 Winter Games host contract that may cancel the event if its anti-doping rules are not fully respected; local officials remain confident the clause will not be triggered (the proposal will be reviewed by WADA in November). - ➤ State officials have relaunched a program to warn families, students, and outdoor explorers about the dangers of abandoned mines — 10,000 sites present serious risks and 7,000 have been secured — and to share new materials for fourth-grade lessons. FOX 13

- ➤ The Provo Planning Commission partially approved Brixton Capital and PEG Companies’ $500 million plan to redevelop the 23-acre Provo Towne Centre into an indoor-outdoor mixed-use center with retail, apartments, and townhomes, while city officials will review the rezoning proposal on April 14.
