- ➤ State Sen. Lincoln Fillmore signed a bill that bans cellphones, smart watches, and similar devices during classroom hours in public schools starting next school year—teachers may allow them for safety or learning reasons. He said the law will help students spend more time talking and playing in the real world and keep distractions in check. Deseret News
