ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah recorded its warmest winter in over a century, averaging 36.4°F from Dec. 1 to Feb. 28 and breaking the previous record by 2.2°F, which led to low snowpack and more rain than snow. Experts warn the reduced runoff may affect water supplies + increase wildfire risks this spring. Deseret News
- ➤ Since the start of 2026, Utah has recorded 31 wildfires, with 28 caused by humans, according to Kayli Guild of the state forestry division. Firefighters advise residents to clear dry vegetation around homes to reduce fire risk. FOX 13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Utah Department of Transportation led a federal pilot program yesterday at the Salt Lake City International Airport to test advanced electric aircraft for package and passenger flights. - ➤ Utah City in Vineyard will create a 700 acre walkable community with spas, gyms, and restaurants that lower living costs and meet Gen Z demand for a modern experience, as the project under development promises more than traditional rentals. KUTV
- ➤ A report by the National Association of Realtors finds that 25-44 year olds in the Salt Lake area have a 55% homeownership rate — rising to 65% in Utah County and about 60% in Ogden, Logan, and St. George. The data shows varied rates of millennial ownership across the region. KUTV
