EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wayne Vaught, UVU’s current provost, will serve as acting president on May 1 when President Tuminez steps down. The board continues to search for a permanent leader while Vaught guides the transition to maintain campus operations. Deseret News
- ➤ State lawmakers introduced HB373 to create a pilot grant program that will offer matching funding for research at Utah colleges in fields such as critical minerals, AI and aerospace. The bill, now before the Senate, includes a $100 million appropriation request to boost innovation (including links to industry). Deseret News

- ➤ A recent MLB fan survey by The Athletic shows Nashville leads with 73% support while Salt Lake City trails at 30%. Meanwhile, the Miller Company will restore the Jordan River & plan a new west-side stadium with hopes that Utah’s team will debut in April, 2032. Deseret News
- ➤ AJ Dybantsa, a top NBA prospect at BYU with a 24.9 point average, said he might stay in college during an interview on Deseret Voices podcast. He will decide by season's end whether to enter the NBA draft. Deseret News
