🎭 Culture
The 25th annual Zions Indie Film Festival will run this week at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem, featuring diverse films, panels and Q&As with both local and international filmmakers.
Organizer Michelle Moore (whose husband is undergoing cancer treatment) said the event will highlight community storytelling in film.
🎓 Education
BYU psychologist Dianne Tice's study reviewed over 1,000 studies to show that online meetings help with closed captioning and increased participation but lose the subtle cues of face-to-face chats.
She said these digital interactions can lead to misunderstandings + the research appears in Perspectives on Psychological Science.
🏈 Sports
Joe Pleban, a snowboarder from Midway (Wasatch County), will debut for Team USA at the Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina from March 6 to March 15.
After choosing below-the-knee amputation in 2014 to stay active, he hopes to inspire with his comeback on the slopes.
BYU Women's Basketball wrapped up its season Saturday at the Marriott Center with Senior Day festivities including a stuffed animal drive managed by Hattie Ogden (donations went to Primary Children's Hospital).
Ogden said her service aims to inspire others.
