  • Community members including BYU football figures and local church leaders gathered at the Provo Married Student 8th Ward on Saturday, Feb. 21 to honor Patti Edwards, a cherished matriarch known for her warmth and faith.   • United Way’s VITA program is offering free tax assistance with the help of dedicated retired volunteers who have secured $4.5 million in refunds for local families. HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials confirmed that high school wrestlers were exposed to measles at the UHSAA 2026 State Wrestling Championships held at Utah Valley University on Feb. 13 and 14. Families have been advised to monitor symptoms & stay home as more cases are expected.  KUTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The new 2034 Winter Games logo got 57% disapproval in a poll conducted Feb. 11-14 by Deseret News and the Hinckley Institute, with critics comparing its abstract design to cartoon imagery. The transitional logo remains in place until 2029 as the organizing committee continues its branding work.  Deseret News
  • Local ski instructor Pete Weber of Shredder Ski in Midvale stresses backcountry safety for families near popular resorts. He advises that children need extra caution and that parents should bring safety equipment such as a shovel + probe + beacon per Utah Avalanche Center guidelines.  FOX 13
  • The Scratch Pad dry-tooling gym in Bountiful has trained over half of the national youth ice climbing team; two athletes won gold on Feb. 16 at the Youth World Championships. Founded by Dustin Lyons & Susan Simms, the gym aims to boost ice climbing's bid for the 2030 Olympics.  Deseret News
