- ➤ The LDS Church called Elder Clark G. Gilbert to join the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He was ordained Thursday by church leaders after being called Wednesday and has served as Commissioner of the Church Educational System. FOX 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A legislative committee in Utah voted unanimously to hold a proposal that would ban graded character education in schools, ending the measure sponsored by Rep. Trevor Lee. Educators said social-emotional learning remains important for students in classrooms. KUTV
- ➤ Senate Minority Leader Escamilla presented SB180 last Thursday to boost free school lunch eligibility for K-6 students by increasing the liquor tax revenue allocation to 20% of the Uniform School Fund used for meals. The education committee passed the bill unanimously. Deseret News
