EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fortis College has started a 15-month practical nursing program for students aiming to become registered nurses. Many local students (including parents and full-time workers) are enrolled, and new classes will begin in April to support their career growth. FOX 13
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A 3.5 earthquake shook Saratoga Springs at 12:53 p.m. Thursday afternoon (lasting about 10 seconds) and office workers in nearby Lehi noted mild shaking with no damage reported. Deseret News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State officials on Thursday completed safety upgrades in Spanish Fork Canyon by installing a median barrier, crash attenuators, drainage systems, and overhead lights. Crews will begin widening the highway near Sheep Creek Road next with over $53 million in projects planned to finish in 2027. KUTV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ During Wednesday's game in Stillwater, offensive chants disrupted BYU basketball, and coach Kevin Young condemned the remarks while urging unity. Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark announced an investigation into the incident. Deseret News
- ➤ After offensive chants targeting BYU and its sponsoring institution during the game on Feb. 5, coach Kevin Young said he was disappointed and urged players to set a positive example for fans. - ➤ Utahn Gail Miller and other founding members of Podium34 carried the Olympic flame through parts of Italy to promote Utah’s 2034 Winter Games, sparking excitement and community unity.
