- ➤ Rep. Andrew Stoddard proposed a bill that would require the state education board to track and share data on student absences & to suggest interventions to help kids attend class. Lawmakers plan to work together on changes while studies show a rise in chronic absenteeism. Deseret News
- ➤ Two new Utah County school districts have selected their leadership teams; Aspen Peaks appointed Joel Perkins as superintendent (open house today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in American Fork) while Lake Mountain named Vicki Carter and Amanda Bollinger and Timpanogos is set to vote on its leader soon. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Intermountain Health reached a record 515 transplants in 2025, including a life-saving heart transplant for Erin Barker & a successful kidney donation chain that helped a local family. The transplant team is planning to perform another 500 procedures soon, ensuring more community members receive the care they need. Deseret News

- ➤ At the Marriott Center on Monday, Jan. 26, BYU nearly overcame an 11-point gap in the final minute before a block by Arizona’s Brayden Burries kept them from tying & Arizona won 86-83. Coach Kevin Young said the finish shows promise as the Cougars learn from mistakes. Deseret News
