BYU football announced Wednesday that Kelly Poppinga is the new defensive coordinator, replacing Jay Hill (who left for Michigan under coach Kyle Whittingham).
The former special teams coordinator has spent 10 seasons with the Cougars and is set to lead the defense as the team builds for future championships.
