Utah’s final Sundance Film Festival will run Jan. 22—Feb. 1 with screenings in Park City and Salt Lake City and special events celebrating 40 years of independent cinema and Robert Redford’s legacy. The event marks the end of an era as longtime venues like the Egyptian Theatre are not included while the festival will move to Boulder next year, and local officials remain confident that Utah’s film industry will continue to thrive.

Utah hikers are advised to keep at least 150 feet away from mountain goats on trails such as Mount Timpanogos—Wildlife Resources warns that nannies with kids in summer and males during rut may act aggressively—so travelers should back away and keep dogs leashed to stay safe.

Last week, Tiffinie Wolf got stuck under Trestle Bridge on the Provo River while paddleboarding with her daughter and was rescued by DNR ranger Wyatt Manis and bystanders who helped keep her safe; local officials urged water users to wear life jackets and avoid using tether straps—recommending they exit at the pull-out area ahead of the bridge.

“This newsletter is great. I don't usually take the time to read the news, but this makes it quick and easy. Wonderful idea and wonderful execution. Because of this newsletter I bought 88 lbs of dog food and 30 lbs of cat food for the local animal shelter that otherwise I wouldn't have known they needed.”

“Good morning! I just wanted to share that I really enjoy this daily newsletter and here's why. 1. I like seeing the focus on just local news. Allows me to quickly know what's impacting my community. 2. This seems to cover a nice range of topics to expand my knowledge. 3. I enjoy the Events section, especially as a weekend is approaching so I can see if there are any activities to take my young family to. I usually have feedback for improvement but I really can't think of any! I so appreciate your team for putting this local news out!”

“First of all, I want to express my admiration for all the work you do to keep the locals informed of current events and updates. Your dedication to sharing what's happening in and around our community is truly invaluable. One of my personal favorite sections is Today's Food For Thought. It's not only thought-provoking and fun to guess who said what, but it also inspires me to think about personal and professional growth.”

“I'm very pleased to report that the Community Prayer Breakfast is officially SOLD OUT! I appreciate you keeping it on your list of upcoming events in the community this month, but unfortunately we can't sell any more sponsorships or individual tickets. Thank you for your service ---I feel our paid advertising with you helped put us in the sold out status sooner than expected!”

“I'm actually really loving the newsletter. A lot of us in the community feel the traditional news providers have gotten pretty negatively biased, so it's truly refreshing to see news that's presented in bite-sized pieces but also isn't hinting one way or another. Very much appreciated in today's climate. Thank you for providing something new and refreshing for the city!”
